– A great smart phone. Battery lasts me for 3 to 4 days on a single charge, and fully recharges in about an hour when needed. The Kirin 970 processor in this phone has handled everything I have thrown at it with ease … including high end gaming. For those that are interested I ran Geekbench 4 tests on it and it came back with a single core score 1756 of and a multi core score of 5739 … impressive for the price I paid which was £218 during the recent Amazon Warehouse 20% off sale. Honor have also just released the Android 9 upgrade for this phone so buy it safe in the knowledge that it will receive this latest iteration of the Android OS. The 128GB of onboard memory is more than sufficient for me and should be for most users, however it can’t be added to as there are no free slots to take an external memory card so if you need more then look elsewhere. All in all a great phone which I highly recommend.

After 2 years of a Galaxy S6 and before that 2 years with an HTC I wanted to stay with Android, and couldn’t justify the cost of a Huewei flagship so settled for this instead. First impressions are good – it comes nicely packaged complete with a clear protective case. Boot up was super fast, but transferring apps and settings from my Samsung involved googling and downloading of an app, and about 2 hours of patience. Honor give a pretty much vanilla Android so it doesn’t take long to miss the ease of use functionality from HTC Sense or Samsung’s Touchwiz.

I bought the Glacier Grey model and in case you are worried about the other colours being a bit garish, I can attest that that Glacier Grey colour way is indeed very nice, and not plain and boring but is much more understated than the other colours appeared on video reviews I’d watched. I was concerned I’d get sick of it and there’s just enough to the grey version to remain interesting (it still does the reflection thing, but just slightly).

Fingerprint scanner is at the bottom which works super fast even with wet hands. The camera is also exceptional with its 24 16 MP rear and 16 MP front and can take 4K@ 30FPS and 1080p @ 60 FPS. It also has slow motion, time lapse, light painting, portrait mode and so many editing options for taking fantastic photos. Facial unlock is very fast that you just need 0.5 sec to unlock phone without any touch. With the 4 GB RAM you can switch between apps and can play high graphic games without any hang or delay. Speakers have very clear sound and loud volume. Calling clarity and mic is good with noise cancellation. The phone has so user friendly that it provides many user friendly settings. The negative side is that its battery drains out faster than normal phones. It takes only 1 hour to get 90% charge (from 0-90%). But the remaining 10% will take up to 25 min for charging. Even though the battery remains only 15-18 hours with normal usage and 12-15 hrs for heavy usage. So that you have to charge twice a day. I think it is the only negative I found. All together the phone is good.
