– OK. The phone was having charger, which can’t be used directly. Instead pin, it was having two rods.

Great for senior citizen Moms and any non-“power” user, but MUST be tweaked. – After owning the BLU Vivo 5 for over a year and still loving it, I thought I would give the BLU Vivo 5 Mini consideration for my Mom’s introduction to Android. After reading/watching countless reviews on how absolutely horrible this phone was, I decided to judge for myself and played with one on display at Best Buy. It actually looked and felt great, but I have to admit it ran like garbage. Swiping was slow, apps wouldn’t respond properly, and it had virtually nothing in common with it’s namesake other than the all-metal build. So I did a little test, and using Best Buy’s guest network, side-loaded Nova Launcher. I also disabled a few non-essential system apps, and it immediately ran noticeably different (and better). I ultimately purchased the Red model through Amazon, and upon arrival, continued my simple tweaking. Even with the extremely limited 500 MB of RAM (the OS and background apps use up about half), my Mom now has an eye-catching Android that makes/receives calls and texts no problem (using FreedomPop), runs WhatsApp like a champ, plays Netflix and YouTube as good as mine (not a bad speaker either), and does what a basic Android should do. Camera is not impressive, but gets by in good lighting. Battery life isn’t amazing, but with average use can last a full day. True, it does sometimes take a full second to open certain apps, but if you have even a sliver of patience, clear your exited apps out of memory faithfully, and want a smaller phone for everyday use, it’s a really nice phone for the money. Only time will tell how long it lasts, but my Mom is happy.

For a Simple person, you really can’t beat it – If you consider yourself patient and cheap, then this is the perfect phone for you.

DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE. IT GETS FROZEN SEVEREAL TIMES A DAY – It looks great, and the size is ok. it is heavier than other bigger BLU phones. I’m giving 2 stars because it gets frozen very often. I had to reset or turn off and on again at least twice or three times a day. Also, it takes several seconds since I swipe my finger over the screen until it asks for the pasword to ounlock it, and several seconds more to show the main screen (desktop). When I receive a call, it tooks a long time until the phone shows the options to take it or reject it, usually the call gets lost and I have to return it. I applied the Android update patch offered by BLU and it did’n get better at all.
